Living Fully with Social Anxiety (Ages 16-25)

Living Fully with Social Anxiety (Ages 16-25)

This group is aimed to help young adults with social anxiety challenge their anxious thinking and face difficult social situations in a supportive environment. Practice makes progress!

Most people experience some feelings of nervousness in social situations. However, for people with shyness or social anxiety these feelings can become so intense they end up avoiding social situations altogether.

Some commonly feared social situations include:

  • Making introductions

  • Meeting new people

  • Starting conversations

  • Being the center of attention

  • Talking with authority figures

  • Eating or writing in public

  • Speaking in public

Group topics include:

  • Identifying and challenging thoughts, like fear of being evaluated and judged, that are holding you back

  • Learning social skills such as starting and maintaining conversations

  • Practicing skills with each other in a safe environment

  • Learning assertiveness skills

  • Receiving support from others struggling with similar challenges
